I started off by calling this a travel bucket list for 2019 but the more I think about it, 2019 Travel Plans seems to make a little more sense. To me a bucket list implies that they are wishes that you want to get to someday in the future, but these are more like plans in the works for this year than general ideas. Either way, here are my big travel goals for 2019.
Visit Europe
Visiting Europe has been on my bucket list for quite a long time. My extent of visiting Europe so far has been a layover in the Heathrow airport so I don’t count that as being there just yet. There are so many places I’d like to go though that I’m having a hard time selecting where I’d like to see first. With all of the little events I had in the last year, I didn’t get a chance to plan a huge trip. I may not get the chance this year either, but it’s definitely on my radar. I’d prefer not to go in the busier summer months, but ideally it wouldn’t be too cold either. I’m hoping sometime in the fall we can make this trip a reality!
Check out More US National Parks
Since I got my boyfriend Mike a National Park pass for Christmas, I’m looking forward to testing it out and visiting a few of the many US National Parks. We already have a few days booked in Florida to check out Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park in early March, and a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine is in the works as part of our New England tour.

Explore New England
Since it’s unlikely I’ll stay this close to New England forever (it’s a bit too cold and far north for my taste), I’d like to explore all this area has to offer. I’ve been to a few of the New England states already, but I’m planning a bunch of weekend trips for the summer when the weather is nicer to explore the rest. Some of the weekend trips we are looking at include:
- Portsmouth, NH
- Salem, MA
- Mystic, CT
- Newport, RI
- Martha’s Vineyard, MA
- Burlington, VT
- Portland, ME
Cross More States off my Bucket List
Since I’m planning to make day trips to all of the New England states, I should be able to cross a few more off my list in my quest to visit all 50 US states. This will also give me a great chance to explore and blog about places from a different lens, as there are many states I visited when I was a kid which means they are officially “crossed off” the list, but I don’t exactly have much I can share about them.
Expand my Reading About the World
A few months ago I put together my 50 States Reading Challenge. Since I’m planning to visit all 50 states at some point, I figured I’d start by combining two of my favorite hobbies: reading and travel. This gives me new things to read while on those road trips or flights to new places and gives me a new appreciation for the areas I’m visiting. Even better if there are locations in the books that I can visit in real life!
